SPORT ENGLAND PLACE PARTNERSHIP
We know that increasing physical activity is most effective when it is done with communities, not to communities. Sustainable change happens when local people are involved in decision-making, partnerships are built across sectors, and activities are shaped around local needs, strengths and inequalities.
Wick Award is excited to be a partner in Hackney's Sport England Place Partnership programme.
Over the coming months, we'll be listening to residents, learning what helps people stay active and understanding what gets in the way. We know that movement already happens in many different ways:
πΆ Debbie walks the length of Wick Road every Monday to get to craft club.
π£ Pam clocks up her steps while volunteering at the Gascoyne community lunch.
π Althea gets off the bus a stop early on her way to Bingo.
πͺ Vera says shifting boxes from the Felix delivery van is her version of weightlifting.
π Chair Disco is Frank's happy place.
π± Keeping on top of the estate planters helps Ana stay mobile.
By listening to residents and building on community strengths, we'll explore practical, inclusive ways to help more people move in ways that work for them. Together, we hope to support healthier, more active and connected communities across Hackney.
