Volunteer focus: Meet Amy

Good to meet you, Amy! Tell us a bit about your volunteer role?

I help out every Tuesday at the Gascoyne 1 Community Lunch in our estate hall. I lay out the tables, settle the 30 or so regular guests we get and serve the lunches.

Why did you want to get involved?

I like being involved in activities and always help my neighbours if I can. The lunch brings everyone together so I was very keen to be a part of it. People need to be able to sit down to a good hot meal and be able to re-connect. Some people struggle to cook so having a meal laid on once a week is a blessing.

What do you get out of your volunteer role?

Helping out at the lunch is something I look forward to every week. It is so good to see people again. It is so satisfying to see guests enjoying their food, asking for seconds and coming back again.

More volunteers are needed to support the Gascoyne 1 Lunch on Tuesdays. If you would like to find out more please contact send us an email..
